Laura Chinchilla

PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF COSTA RICA (2010-2014)

Costa Rican political scientist and politician who served as the 46th President of Costa Rica from 2010 to 2014. Born in San José, she held various prominent positions, including Minister of Justice and First-Vice President under President Óscar Arias Sánchez. Chinchilla made history as the first woman to become President of Costa Rica, securing victory in the 2010 general election.

Beyond her political career, she is an educator, having taught at Georgetown University in 2016, and is actively involved in think tanks such as the Inter-American Dialogue, where she serves as co-chair, and Club de Madrid, where she is the vice-president.
